Qabalah - The Western Tree Of Life

O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth, who has set thy glory above the heavens.

Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. When I consider thy heavens the work of thy fingers the moon and stars which thou hast ordained what is man that thou art mindful of him and the son of man that thou dost care for him for thou hast made him a little lower than God and hast crowned him with glory and honor Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands. Thou hast put all things under his feet. All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field, the fowl of the air and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth the title of our sermon this morning is Qabalah the Western Yoga but actually Actually, as you will recall, last Sunday morning, when we gave our talk on the esoteric principles behind initiation, we told you that in the most important ways this talk will be more or less a continuation.

Because when we speak of Qabalah, the Western Yoga, Actually, we're speaking about a method, a technique, a way of return that has been carefully designed, that has been practiced, the paths having been trod by untold numbers who have gone before us, down through the centuries, so far back that we don't even know when it began. Nevertheless the system the method has remained intact it has been handed on from generation to generation there have been a few on the planet through each generation through each period through each era who have been specially trained to carry on this tradition to carry on this method of training to prepare aspirants for this path of return which really is better spoken of as the paths of return because if you will look on the Tree of Life which is the glyph the symbolic representation of the universe and of man and which is the basic pattern or framework upon which all the true esoteric, qabalistic teachings are based, and the training that is involved with it.

If you will remember that every one of these lines you see with a tarot key upon them are paths, we will have a better understanding of what is meant by initiation and what is meant by path path of return. Last Sunday morning we explained to you the relationship of initiation in terms of the influx of energy from the universal thought process, the cosmic aspect of the beginnings more or less in terms of growth and expansion and the development of self-conscious centers for God of God in God or if you prefer the life power the Lord of life the universal self the one the indivisible they're all beautiful they are all synonymous they point to a wonder no name can describe it no name can contain it so we try to infer all the things at least that we know it must be and then as we recognize that the development of these centers of consciousness taking place always remember within God within God not without the great mistake that is made so often by so many is to think of God or the Higher Self or any of these cosmic principles as being something outside, something to reach for from without. Whereas it actually must be within and yet in a sense it is also without. But that which is without is that which is within. It's as we explained to you before, the principle if you take water and just draw an imaginary circle in the water it is still the same water you are merely analyzing that which has the circle around it and in the same way we are the essence the substance of god we live within god as the universal water substance idea which incidentally is a very real one in the subtle sense and so we don't have to reach above and without indeed sometimes that hinders our growth because we we are telling our consciousness that god beauty livingness hope fulfillment that that lies without and it take it takes away from the center of attention which needs to be focused on the within where we definitely must find it then we recognize that it is also without but the without becomes the within the moment we put our attention upon it it's an experience one cannot explain it intellectually one can can perceive it and know it directly, if one is properly trained and guided on the path of return.

So the initiation process, which really is growth process, evolution process, exists whether it be for those who have not even begun to think of themselves as centers of expression who must consciously cooperate with this process, or for those who are aspirants apparently very much along on this path. The principle exists because everything is in motion.

Everything is in the spiral motion towards growth.

But it is only when we achieve a certain degree of of individuality, a certain degree of intensity, a certain degree of aspiration, of one-pointedness, of determination, to achieve whatever it is we wish to achieve in terms of spiritual illumination.

And we may have the most inexact ideas as to what spiritual illumination really happens to be, but that doesn't matter because no idea in the mind or the intellect will be correct anyway when you have it you discover it is not what you thought it would be and this of course is again pretty much like no description or concept or idea is going to be correct in relation to the taste of a peach unless you taste that peach and directly experience it so we must always aim at directly becoming and experiencing that which we yearn for keeping an open mind not hindering or hampering ourselves not imprisoning ourselves in ideas of what it must must be like because the moment we do that we close the doors to what the reality will be once you know or have a concept you're locked away this is why very often strange as it may seem skepticism helps an aspirant on the path much more fully than the blind belief of the determined knowledge or the thought that one has determined knowledge that growth must be so-and-so faith we must have but the faith we must have is faith that we are being guided that there is something beyond us yet within us that is ever there and that we can reach consciously and utilize consciously once we achieve the perception of it and of course this is what the work of builders of the adytum is all about and this is what all true spiritual training systems are all about to help us know this consciously so Qabalah has often been called the Western yoga by those who know because it is a system of training as is yoga designed for Western minds and bodies whereas yoga is really a training system designed for Eastern minds and bodies and Yoga is a system that is designed for Eastern culture Qabalah is a system designed for Western culture The entire emphasis on the Eastern culture and the Eastern yoga basically is escape from illusion the entire emphasis on the western occult metaphysical mystical spiritual development is discover what illusion is and is not and bring this awareness bring this spiritual quality into the everyday beingness because this is the whole intention of life of evolution of god if you you please and there is a great difference because then one lends itself to escapism that is the eastern thought does in the main though there are a few exceptions whereas this type of training helps to cure us from wanting to escape by helping us to discover that there is nothing to escape from that we abide in the bosom of god from beginninglessness to endlessness and it is only because of the needs of the process of evolution that the focus of our attention has been such that we have thought we are only this little thing this separate thing whereas we are more oh so far more than we dream of the system then of qabalah of the path of return is a system of level upon level upon level which it must be just as we look out into life incidentally all reality if it be reality can be seen as a process in the so-called physical world and it has its correlate in the inner or spiritual world and indeed is the is the effect the outer the physical world is the effect of the laws of the spiritual world so if we look out on this glorious wonder and miracle that which we call the physical world we see levels upon levels upon levels of expressions of of life of God in God for God we see the mineral we see the vegetable we see then the insect we see the the fish we see the animal and then we see the man and pray God we will all see the God also but there are these levels have their correlations indeed and all growth has to come from level to level to level all awareness has to stretch out in these ever expanding whirlpools of awareness and those who tell us that in one fell swoop suddenly if we work hard all of a sudden snap your finger and lightning flash boom we will have the entire higher illumination either they are deluded because they have deluded themselves in relation to an experience they've had or they are deliberately deluding others in order to cater to the need to escape to the desire for that which will be quick and and sudden and easy my darlings it cannot be that way just by virtue of what life is all we have to do is examine anything and everything no living thing suddenly springs from one stage to its last stage unless it was on the one before it all growth is a process from its natural expansion all growth starts with that little egg and the cells get larger and it adds and adds in organized and orderly series this order is well known to those who have come before us it is well known to those who have been trained by those who have gone before us though unfortunately few there be who are able to understand accept experience it in all these many ways nevertheless these orderly series are there and they are open and ready to any aspirant who's willing to work with them so Qabalah based on this glyph the the tree of life, having the system of training which is sure, absolutely sure, if one can and will follow it, has this particular relationship for the Western evolutionary development.

First comes that which is open to all aspirants anywhere without reservation if they're able to absorb it and that is contained in our work which goes out in the lessons to aspirants all over the world this is preparatory and what it contains actually as we have told you before it contains contains principles and systems and techniques of training which just little over 50 years ago were reserved strictly only for the mystery school or mystical societies but as culture and evolution proceed and grow that which was strictly esoteric, strictly reserved is given out again just step by step by step and so just in the very recent years much was given out to be open and ready for those who want it and seek it this is contained as we say in our lessons and is an absolute necessity due to the fact that in the tarot lesson of course beginning first with the seven steps which is the principle of consciousness as it works for us and then all through the tarot work which has several series the whole emphasis is on starting a retraining of the subconscious processes which have been patterned by incorrect self-conscious thinkings feelings and interpretations not only through this incarnation but through our past incarnations this is essential before anyone can begin to be ready for the further steps one must have reconditioned subconsciousness by working with these lessons regularly one must have started to train the awareness to the recognition that it is the higher self which guides every step that we take not that it is going to be complete but it must have been started enough so that it is available to the consciousness to the awareness of the aspirant this then is the first step in the western yoga which we call the qabalistic system the work which one must do with the lessons received by aspirants anywhere and given to anyone who has the capacity to use it although it is true every once in a while we find there's someone who has not got the intellectual ability to understand well when they don't that is fine we usually recommend some very nice fine elementary system for them like unity which incidentally is a a lovely teaching we feel limited to certain fields but very good and excellent and so we have quite often sent aspirants on to something like that where we know and see that they cannot utilize our work because our work is not for the lazy mind or for the mind unable to understand don't forget our work is the advanced the most advanced occult work that exists on this planet it and those of you who take the lesson well know what we mean nevertheless it is understandable to any good mind it doesn't require the technical education it does require the kind of mind that is able to cope with certain ideas and apply them and this is very different we have had aspirants and have been surprised very often who have had so very little outer technical education that we wondered how they could manage with the lessons due to the fact that the vocabulary, after all, is not infantile in our work.

But much to our amazement, the mental capacity of these people has been such that all they did was sit with a dictionary and they enlarged their vocabulary within a few months and we're able to cope with mental concepts far beyond that which many university graduates can't begin to understand so remember a good mind does not necessarily mean a technical education though a technical education is very helpful to cope with certain aspects of the physical world shall we say. Now then, the lessons proceed to go on from certain tarot trainings to giving the aspirant a basic understanding of the Tree of Life, which we see here. It goes on to give the aspirant a basic understanding of the use of color and sound for healing, and for also healing one's mental emotional problems as well when one learns how to utilize it it goes on to train the aspirant in an understanding of the terminology of spiritual alchemy and the and the importance of at least understanding this teaching in order to know how to apply it to qabalah because they are sort of interwoven as those who go farther see very quickly this having been accomplished and if they have really achieved the capacity and if it be their karma to have the privilege for further intensive work they are then if they are within this area although there is one other step before that incidentally that is preparatory those who happen to be in the area or an area where a pranaeus exists, have the added help of what we may call the probationary teaching and training preliminary to what we call chapter. Now chapter is the actual and full mystery training system it has been called in so many books, although many who have written about it have not known what it it is at all. They have copied from somebody else's books, and they have copied from somebody else's books. Only those who've had the privilege of being trained in it know what it really is.

Many call themselves such and are in very grave delusion, having had their inspiration through various psychic sources. But if it makes them feel good, I suppose that also is part of an experience they need. However, there is that which is probationary, which we call the prāṇāya. Prāṇāya means the threshold to the temple or the portico to the temple. It is in prāṇāya where the members can get together, the aspirants, and together share the lessons. Because this, in order to hasten each other's insight and understanding and it also is the first preparation for possible teacher material that is those within pranayas who have that aspiration to teach though it isn't necessarily just for that because it is for the sharing of the lesson material there is so much that when we each can share with the other discuss with the other we we find that we all come out enriched. And this, then, is the first step towards the really amazing system which we call, in this era, which we are calling the chapter.

You see, we give them many names during different periods that are more or less in accord with the era and the terminology and so on. But then the chapter is the next step, and no one, no one is accepted into chapter who has not first gone through the entire outer work. Sometimes an exception is made and one is permitted to come in when they have reached through the Tree of Life work only if if they are able, because of their environmental conditions, to continue with the outer and have reached a stage of development where we feel they can also take on the inner, where they can take on, shall we say, a double load within this very busy society and culture in which we live. There are times, though it is rare, when we make an exception and permit them to come in before they're fully through with the entire outer course which remember was completely inner a very short time ago and is the preliminary teaching training level for the further development now then again acceptance into the the chapter involves many things.

Aspirants are looked over very carefully by the three chiefs. They're examined very carefully as to what their ideas and thinkings are.

If there is any vestige, for instance, of minority prejudice, they are not ready for chapter. They are not only not ready for chapter, it would be dangerous for them.

To enter into an intensified energy with this type of separativeness and delusion and hatred living in their hearts and souls. This is one of the most vicious elements in human consciousness that exists, in case we don't know it. Any kind of feeling against any minority groups, whatever they may be because it is the need in human consciousness to feel that some other race or some other culture is inferior and responsible for all the troubles of the world or at least all the troubles of our particular cultural world it is something that is so dangerous for an aspirant to hold we cannot begin to tell you how important it is to tear it out of your hearts if if you hold a bit of it yet.

This, then, is one of the first things we carefully watch for. But indeed, we've been watching for a long time when any potential comes along. We watch them for many years without their knowing that they are being watched. We watch their ideas and their responses.

We watch their thinking and feeling processes. We watch to see how much need they have to shine this power drive this egomania which exists we watch to see how vital it is to them to seem a little smarter or more attractive or more spiritual than their neighbor we watch for many subtle things and these are given away by anyone who has them always as we like to quote about people. We say, don't look now, but your consciousness is showing. We cannot open our mouths really without giving ourselves away. Often when we think we're sounding the most noble, we can be actually presenting something which is most ignoble. And those who know how to interpret and look and see, these these instantly recognize it. And it isn't that we feel any rancor. I mean, none of us are perfected. All of us have weaknesses in our personality we're struggling for. Nevertheless, there are certain types of weaknesses which do not belong in chapter training. Not that it is necessary that all of it be already expunged from the heart, if it were all expunged from the heart already, what need for the next step? Certainly those who are accepted into chapter have many, many weaknesses, and indeed those who are accepted into chapter often show more weaknesses than those who are not in chapter, which may surprise you. But the kind of weaknesses of the kind we feel can be outgrown and are not dangerous we all have our spots but it is as we said the type of weakness which can endanger a group endeavor a true aspiration which can be disruptive and even then mistakes can be made for this reason though they they be watched and sometimes watched for a considerable period initiation into chapter does a very interesting thing it intensifies the whole nature as naturally it must for growth to take place you get nowhere without enough gasoline and the participation in this group training handed down to us from the great masters through the ages, this kind of participation, this channeling of energies, intensifies the soul, the emotions, the mind, very extraordinarily in certain places of application of the chapter work.

And when we become intensified my darlings that which is beautiful becomes more intensified and that which is not beautiful becomes intensified in other words the whole being becomes intensified now what is the reason for this one might ask why go into anything that's going to make my immature aspects come up even more prominently and the answer we give you is this in the subconsciousness lie what is called in qabalah the shells of the dead the old patterns the old hates the old resentments the old remorses they lie hidden and deep and subtle and the shake-up of all this energy is like boiling something to make the scum rise to the top you see and when the scum rises to the top the boiling is going on people who do not understand will often say well what good is this sort of thing when look if this represents it and so the our answer to to that can only be as from the book of tokens woe unto you who presume to judge these my works unfinished because we never we little know that it does not necessarily indicate that this person is so terrible this person is handling more force in order to be forced to see certain things that must get skimmed off in the process of living and it's rough at times anyone who tells us it isn't is again deceiving either himself or deliberately deceiving you in order to lure you into the false paths as I hope we understand and realize by now so I'm going to give a short quick run-up of the stages that take place in the chapter which is the true mystery school aspect of the Qabalistic training and nothing that people really know about on the whole unless it has been their privilege and is their privilege to be in such a society and incidentally as far as I know as far as I know I cannot be sure we are the only representatives of this system in the Western world at this time there was one other that we know of in England we think though we are not sure that it has fallen apart by this time as far as we know we are the only one at this time this doesn't mean that that is all that that this is a thing which may become lost.

It cannot become lost, my darlings, because in each generation, the inner school, the master of wisdom who is behind our work, and before he was a master of wisdom and in charge, there were others before him, which we call the inner school, who have always seen to it that there is a channel to work from. A channel to work through that the system has been kept intact in its basic applications so we need not fear if this might be the only one we there might be one other but we don't know we have no information on it and it appears there's not at this time anyway now what is the whole principle upon which this works well basically if we look that on the tree going downward and we see the circles they're actually these are the sefiroth the emanations of the one life and the functions and spheres of activity and also therefore the aspects of ourselves from that white circle downward you go one two three four five six each of those are assigned to a certain evolutionary grade of attainment it is that way in the cosmic and it is also that way in the microcosmic.

It is that way in the entire universe, there is that system of evolutionary scale in the evolution of beings throughout the system. And again, in a smaller measure, there is the same thing within the solar system aspect, and then again it exists upon this planet and represented by the systems such as ours.

The attainments are a curious thing, like, for instance, take this white circle. That represents he who is most himself.

Now, on a cosmic scale, he who is most himself is the universal life, God, naturally.

And so on down.

And then he who is most himself, within himself, has these two aspects which are the male female in eternal union blending and so on so that the gray circle called wisdom is called in the initiatory esoteric schools of training is called the Magus this one has conquered all things all things indeed from the most without to the most within he is the true magician in the fullest sense the black circle which is assigned to the female principle is called the master of the temple and the master of the temple actually has attained complete mastery of all we repeat all physical phenomena besides whatever else has been attained below this tree as we will explain when we say all physical phenomena what we mean is that he who has attained to that state of consciousness can change the course of a planetary orbit as well as instantly dissolve and reassemble a physical body for any planet or any place in in the universe and instantly transport himself and make or unmake this kind of vehicle Of course, this is something way beyond anything we could comprehend or know.

And indeed, that entire circle, that entire triune aspect up there, really, for those who have enough spiritual humility and knowledge, really are not aspects that we need be concerned with for our own growth at this time, except we need to know that that is always available to us since it is within that which we are doing our growing now on the smaller scale you also have such representation only it is more limited because it's smaller so that it even let's look at it even away from the initiatory processes processes. You go to a party, any group, and he who is most himself always carries the most weight in accordance with what he says. In other words, there's the most power, is there not?

There's the greatest spontaneity of expression. There's the ability to take control at will and get the attention and to entertain and move or accomplish or direct, so that in a small group he who is most himself just automatically becomes the leader the head and Kether, that white circle is a sign to the head it is not a head so you see the idea the idea is there even though they apply to the mystery school training to the Qabalistic mystical system these principles apply to all parts of life if they didn't they really would not be practical and they would serve us not at all because everything must be tested and tried in the environment for us to really know that it's there within us otherwise how could we know? We live in a dream and a delusion well then, having explained that upper aspect and you notice the space there is between those three and the lower sefirot starting with the fourth this is called the great abyss and that of course there are esoteric teachings in relation to this abyss and indeed in time we will all want to bridge the abyss and indeed perhaps some of us sometimes have glimpses of what is across the abyss but there's a difference between having a glimpse or an experience of it and having attained its beingness and usage and control as I'm sure you understand the stand so let's now return to the bottom of the tree and show the system that is utilized for initiation which is the true qabalistic training from its most esoteric aspect I am not giving away any of the obligations I have taken because the obligations are concerned only with the ways and means, the rituals, the ceremonials, the practices that are utilized, but the principles and the psychological understandings I am always happy to give anywhere where there is a heart and a mind willing to receive.

On the bottom we have what is called Malkuth and when a human being is initiated has reached a point where he has been accepted passed by three the three chiefs after long scrutiny and so on by one or more he is initiated into the chapter now in actuality he has not been initiated into the tree at all yet he has been initiated into the privilege of participating in the motion of the ceremonial and ritual which exists within the tree so that he is being guided through the tree and around the tree for the first impact and in a sense he is still in a probationary area of his growth which is more intensive than the one he's been receiving in pernass and pernass he was just on the threshold and could not enter the tree at at all. In chapter, once he is initiated, he at least is able to travel about the tree in the special exercises that intensify the entire beingness. And there's a certain period of time which he must remain in this area, and there's a certain period of time which he's given to learn certain things.

He must pass tests. He's not allowed to stop. Anyone who has to stop must give a good reason and be given permission or leave. You cannot enter a chapter. You cannot enter a true school of training such as this and go on in the usual haphazard fashion of the mood or not the mood. It is obligatory. In fact, one takes obligations.

It is obligatory that one continue going along and doing that which is related to the practices and studies of spiritual growth nothing to do with the personal life everyone of course must be free if they're not and where any teacher or any school tries to interfere with your freedom of thought or heart or motion, be suspicious and run like you know what.

Because that is not the way a true system works. The obligation is merely in certain things one has undertaken within the range of this development. It's pretty much like if you have a job, you're obligated to get there at a certain hour to do a certain amount of work that is the work assigned to you. It is similar, except naturally in chapter we certainly hope more meaningful to each aspirant.

Then after this specific period, and there are esoteric reasons for the period, there is what is called an advancement, if the tests are passed, of course.

And in this advancement, which is really the next initiation, one goes through special intensification of force through the magic of ceremony and ritual handed down to us through the ages which brings the focus of the subtle energies of what we call at bottom Sephirah the kingdom and they are then called a zelotor and a zelotor means someone who is zealous also someone who is burning, starting to burn the fires.

Now inasmuch as this lowest, sefiroth, is assigned to the physical universe, and inasmuch as it is also assigned to the element of earth, of which the gnomes are its, shall we say, subtle aspect, there is an intensification in the whole inner being of these forces. And then one starts becoming aware, not always right away because awareness things happen and the self-conscious awareness is often many years behind it but it happens nevertheless and it is recognized later there is this intensification of these forces which are going to from there on out help each aspirant overcome inertia because remember inertia has to do with the earth always holding us down in this sort of lazy sleepy desire not to have to be and do and just go about things as we please it is aimed at that nevertheless none of these things when what we call the first order really take place right away and again that is a beautiful illusion that has been presented to aspirants the idea that instantly we have this and instantly we have that growth doesn't come that way the privilege of the work in the chapter is that there has been this stimulation just like a seed has been planted in the womb of the mother so that the embryo is growing and not until that baby gets born do we realize what happened it takes time to grow it and the time varies incidentally for every aspirant some develop the qualities of one sefiroth more rapidly than another but all of them need time and then the time element never becomes that full during what we call the first order at all it is later when it can become more integrated that the full awareness comes well it was getting rather late so I'll have to very quickly skip up after again a certain specific period of time if you'll see this path that runs up from the bottom to what we call foundation and that is assigned to Theoricus and there the aspirant the one who has is being trained in the true mystery techniques is taught the true theory behind magic behind attainment and again there's a certain period of time one must be remain there now in as much as this sefiroth that ninth sefiroth the one we call the oricus the foundation is assigned to subconsciousness it's also incidentally assigned to the astral world it's assigned to the shells of the dead that means the old habit patterns and it is also called the world of illusion due to the fact that it is in subconsciousness that so many illusions exist the initiation or advancement into this area intensifies and shakes up the subconsciousness and sometimes one goes through some pretty rough times and this is a beautiful test indeed when you survive that there's always a pretty good chance you're going to go the rest of the way and when we say survive we don't mean that it's drastic in terms of some of the beautiful fairy tales we read about in novels and books but you see this is called the foundation and how do you think we feel when that which we thought was our foundation gets pulled out from under us we're floating in air and incidentally this affair is assigned to air we're floating in air we we have anxiety we feel insecurity that which we thought was our solid foundation turns out to be air and most of these spirits do not know that this is an absolute essential to any next step or any growth we have to recognize that the things we held as principles prejudices our prejudices that that which we thought of as as being dignity or responsibility have often just been sicknesses of the soul putting on the guise of false robes so that we can fool ourselves as to our real motive, don't you see?

And discovery of these things in our hearts is an awfully rough process for most people, although there are some who do not go through too much perturbation, especially if they've done plenty of work ahead of time with the series. And indeed, the series, through the lessons that you receive each week, are aimed at helping you, when you get to this point, not to have, perturbations this terrible I remember when I was in this sphere every single thing I had ever believed in was knocked out from under me I had nothing to reach to nothing to hold on to nothing to hope for and it was for me sheer hell I took things hard I have been more or less what you might call an extremist one of those fools who rush in where angels fear to tread and each step that I have taken I've taken mightily nevertheless it has been necessary and essential because I understand it mightily and therefore can give it out in various ways that perhaps others might not be able to do so you see even our weaknesses sometimes turn out to be strengths in the final analysis though they can give us a rough time while it's going on but I lost my foundation truly in that place and then I found after that my new foundation the kind you cannot pull out from wonder because it isn't based on the same illusions that's why it is such a necessary prerequisite as you can see nevertheless even that one isn't quite aware of all one knows is that things have gotten pretty rough emotionally and one finds all kinds of problems coming up uh that they never had to cope with before due to the fact that there are these stirrings and they have to have to re-evaluate what they can truly depend on what is the true foundation then again after the certain length of time they become ready for the next step or advancement that has its special intensification processes and in order to get to the next one which if you notice we're going backward because what is the path of return 10 9 8 7 6 5 you see that backward from the outer back to the inner this is the path of return there it is on the tree so in order then to get to the next step which is that orange circle which is called Hode assigned to the intellect and also called practicus in the initiatory process that is one who is being taught practical application of the theory that he was taught in the previous grade or level of intensification and training in order to get to that one there are two paths one one has to travel one has to return in the inner sense in the initiatory uh sense the intensification of the energies that are involved to this physical aspect which incidentally remember all things that we do or attain are aimed at bringing them down to the physical if we don't do that it's all worthless all we're doing is coming for a shot of dope only we're using a method where we don't have to have the very bad physical effects of the dope but if we're not taking each step in each grade and bringing it down to the physical as we said all we're doing is making ourselves uh mystical dope fiends so to speak so this splendor that we have to attain to and incidentally we have to attain to all this even before we can go into such a training system it takes place in any case except that when we reach a point where we have earned extra help from certain type of force we have this privilege we do it uh so much more rapidly that it is astonishing instead of having to take say a dozen incarnations we might do it in this or at least in two or three if we have enough.

It cuts down the time period in an extraordinary way.

So we return then to the force in our inner consciousness of this physical aspect of the earth element, of the energy of the gnome and earth element. And we go through a certain ritualistic process of intensification utilizing these subtle forces which take us up the path of what you see there that red path which is assigned to the 20th tarot key which has certain forces to fire this is assigned to fire and this is aimed at firing certain inner aspects of the being so that our intellectual mental processes will become more acute sharpened better developed then I mean there's much more to that I'm just giving you two or three I could give you a talk on each one of the sefirahs at least a hundred times and still not begin to cover it and we will give various theories where we go into each one more fully for you as time goes on but now we want to give you a little picture of what the qabalah the western yoga really is and so this picture must of course be brief and just give a point or two so you get the idea and then of course then the consciousness and with its symbolic representation is taken into the subconscious aspect to the foundation to this violet circle and one goes up this path of race which is the path of the sun in order again you notice again there's this firing element that's involved for the intellect and then one does a certain kind of work there in the next grade called philosophers which is victory the orange circle assigned to the desire nature again there there are two paths that have to be traveled.

The path that goes from the earth element, that is the kingdom, the physical aspect of life, up to victory, the emotional love aspect of life, that is the tarot key, the 18th tarot key.

And there are certain elements involved there that there are forces that one is traveling within.

And then again, from the subconsciousness up to victory, but then there's a third path to get to that and that is the cross path which incidentally is called grace and sin and it's assigned to mars and it has that tower with those figures falling out and that is supposed to help just really blow up uh our basic ideas of what is grace and what is sin and what is good and what is bad and help us to develop a true lovingness from the spirit of victory that green circle which is assigned to venus you know and a true thinking capacity and to balance them and yet this only starts all these processes then after quite a lengthy period one has to start integrating this a bit and then the most vital part of mystery school training starts in and that is initiation into what is called the second order we will not mention the paths of the reasons right now though we will be glad to give classes on it from time to time but the one beauty the second order uh this is the most extraordinary inner experience which true aspirants can have and this is what is being reached for at all time this is what one is being prepared for at all time because this is the son of god this is adam this is generic humanity this is christ consciousness this is the is the place where eventually one can develop up the complete and true knowledge of being at one with the father this and this alone and it is from this point then the rest of the growth goes now then another element that no all right I'm told that it's too late we'll take it up but perhaps a little in some further classwork there's so much to say that one I hate to stop but at any rate this is the thing to aspire for for my darlings and to work for it is the pearl of great price it is the treasure beyond measure the riches and the joy and the love and the insight it brings to everyday livingness is something one can never describe we want you to know it that's why we're trying to help you to attain it.
