Qabalistic Paths to the Inner Planes - Class 9

I am the support of all that enter into existence. Upon me all depend and I fail not. This have I declared unto thee in various ways. But listen now to my words again. Gain I sustain creation in the midst of a perpetual ebb and flow therefore do I assume the appearance of a refiner's fire forever purging out the dross of forms outworn this is mine aspect of severity and of this it is written tetragrammaton elohim is a devouring fire thus am I as one who testeth gold in a furnace, and this aspect of my being presenteth to the unrighteous a face of wrath.

Yet by the purgation of fire do I uphold and sustain thee in every moment of thy life.

Behold, I am he who trieth thee with many subtle tests. Wise art thou if thou knowest that the the subtle serpent of temptation, is in truth the anointed one who bringeth thee to liberation. I am he who establisheth the time of the decree, who declareth the term of the days of Adam. The fullness of those days shall see the strengthening of thy weakness, O Israel, and in the renewal of thy powers shall be made manifest the plenitude of my great name in the abode of wisdom. For when thou hast been tried as by fire, the gold of thy beauty shall be purged of all dross, and the glory of the heavenly sun shall all men behold. Then shall the vision of thy Lord be granted unto thee, and seeing him shalt thou behold the shining one, who is thine own true self. In the fullness of that blessed vision shalt thou be restored and as a young lion tramples upon his prey so shalt thou conquer all the phantoms of delusion.

Lo, in that day shall the light that is bind fast every hideous shape of darkness and all thy habitation shall be blessed by the white brilliance which descended on the crown tonight we are giving the last class in this particular series and I always feel quite sad about that because I miss giving the Thursday classes even when it's wiser that I take a little rest in order to replenish the energies I still hate to do without our Thursday evening which will be just through the months of July and or rather through August and September as you know however I will still be giving the Sunday morning talk so it isn't like missing you entirely just part of the time anyway tonight I want to be sure to give you this technique which I have promised you and I thought the wisest thing to do is to give it before we start with the rest of it of tonight's class to make sure you get it otherwise reliable to run overtime so let's have the technique first then we'll proceed with winding up tonight the series for tonight now then the particular technique we want to give you definitely as you surely must realize has to do with the tree of life and a special usage in order to help you receive the influx of the special energies and thereby prepare yourselves more adequately for becoming opened up and linked with the deeper aspects and forces of the tree which remember link us to those levels and hierarchies of consciousness so what we're going to do is give you a quite potent little technique don't let its apparent simplicity fool you if you work with it regularly you will be astonished at what starts to happen to your personality.

Now then, as you recall, on the Tree of Life, we have spoken to you about the fact that the paths are the inner forces which link the stages of development or spheres of activity, which involve the various levels of our own unfoldment and our powers.

Also, if you will recall, we have pointed out that all of us have a certain degree of unfoldment really in all of the grades because we are an entire being in essence there isn't any part of the tree which isn't alive in us now because the tree of life is really a representation of the shall we say the universal universal one and its reflection or manifestation ourselves and everything else that exists. We might think of it as the macrocosm and the microcosm. You might think of a reflection in a drop of water which might reflect the whole sky, yet you can see the picture in that drop. All the powers of the universe are ours by reflection, but we have not yet perfected them we are still an evolving growing consciousness and yet the true self has all the powers from beginning through the middle to the end because the true self is that self which is perfecting its vehicles or personality you might say which it has created and remember again what we have said over and over again our problem resides almost completely in our identification with the personality which is not the self it's the whole personality is really the vehicle for that higher self which is one with god which has never been separated from god but our consciousness has become uh in a sense you might call hypnotized and necessarily so lost in the play lost in the story because that's the way we experience the infinitesimally small and it's the way god uh self-experiences those specialized aspects the shape of a leaf always remember that the higher you go the broader vistas you look at the less you see the details you see wide vistas the closer you get to anything the more you experience its details and that in itself might give you a reason for incarnation for the creation of the physical vehicle in other words to be able to experience the details of our self-beingness as well as the vastnesses which our higher self certainly has at all times so let's go to this with this little preliminary let's go to the technique on the tree of life if you will recall again in order to understand the technique we pointed out to you that the actual uh center of consciousness or control is through the middle pillar and the forces that we use are through each of the polarities the pillar of severity the pillar of mercy but it is through the middle pillar that we establish our control it is the middle pillar that holds the basic consciousness or awareness of self-being let's put it that way so our little technique is going to deal with a portion of the the middle pillar, yet it will include all the powers in this way. The tarot key, therefore, the inner powers, or the link we have between the true ego, which, remember, is the yellow circle called beauty, which is the basic Christ consciousness in ourselves. The link between that and the rest of the personality basically or the direction of it is in that holy guardian angel Tarot key number 14 that's why we read from the book of tokens tonight to give you some of the feeling of that key as a beginning this then is our linkage or this is the channel that we're going to use and we're going to use it in this manner in the morning first thing you do when you wake up while you're still in bed is really best before you step a foot out of that bed you would be wise to lie flat on the bed if you use two cushions take one away just have a pillow holding your neck not under your shoulders but just up in the neck you can cuddle it around the neck but make sure your shoulders are flat and therefore that your spine is flat on that bed the idea is to have your spine straight because all esoteric work is more potent when we see to it that our back is straight some people prefer to do all their work in a straight sitting position there are some techniques though that often do quite as well in a lying down position provided you're not the type of person will fall asleep the moment you lie down then you have a problem then you might as well get up and sit in a chair but the reason we say do this in bed before you get out lying flat on the bed isn't because you can't get up and do it in a chair as long as you remember to hold your back straight it's because we want you to pull this technique into your consciousness and get it into activity before you've started any other action at all before you've washed your face before you've brushed your teeth before you've done any of the things you usually do in other words the first waking thing that you can do at all it is best to immediately let your consciousness grab this technique and as you become familiar with it you will find it will become more and more potent so that's the only reason we say do it that way though you can do it sitting up if you want to and indeed you can do it at any time of the day or night if you want to it's just that it's very important to start your day with it that's the thing to take the earliest thought that can come to you that you can control now the first thing you do then is picture the 14th Tarot key and I hope you all have it painted because to image things in their colors makes them far more potent and indeed all the highest techniques the most intensive techniques that take place in the esoteric part of the work have to do with teaching you how to use the powers of color and sound in specialized ways and on sunday mornings you know we do this together every sunday morning and have been getting wonderful results but there are various types of techniques and we're working with one particular one on sunday mornings now therefore picture the 14th tarot key and we as we said we hope you have it colored so that your consciousness can more readily picture it in its full color.

Now then, see this holy guardian angel and see it as your holy guardian angel as both interpermeating you and yet at the same time being vast and above you, especially so that the wings are overshadowing you protectively.

In relation to that, I would like to point out that the masters of the true and invisible Rosicrucian order, the ones who definitely function from the third order, in their contact with the disciples who act as their channels for the various teachings, almost invariably end any message or instruction with the term subumbra allatum tuatum yod he wah he and you hear us do that at the end of our Sunday morning service and it is for a very special reason too it is bringing out a very special blessing what it actually means is under the shadow of thy wings Jehovah which means that which was is and will be God the creator and it is a short declaration saying more or less he is one and one alone rest under the shadow of his wings see we have to give you this to give you the spirit of what you're supposed to invoke for yourself so you picture this 14th Tarot key this figure of the Holy Guardian angel as permeating you through and through and yet being above you especially the part of the wing protectively and lovingly overshadowing you and this is a comfort beyond anything you can imagine when you start getting the feel of it to leave you now then but this is just the beginning of this particular technique now then having pictured yourself in this manner you want your consciousness to take for granted that this is now in function at all times and you may write down what I say and whatever I say at this point remember is just coming spontaneously but we would prefer that after you become accustomed accustomed to what you have written down in terms of what we say to you now, that you find your own terms with the same meaning, so that you will be creating your own emotional force and declaration rather than taking it exactly from us. In other words, get your unique individuality into it.

You may start with our words. Try to get your own words in. As you become more and more accustomed to this technique you'll find that from the depth of your being there will well up spontaneously poetic and forceful expressions that give the same ideas coming from your own essence and when that starts to happen with you you will know that you are being even that much more effective because it becomes more of an actual participation of your magical individuality with the whole idea involved in this technique so you having pictured this angel with the wings never forget and the idea of the protective overshadowing wings with the idea of what we just explained to you of the meaning of the boom the a lot of to autumn you then say say, I freely, completely, utterly give over my personality to the guidance of the Holy Guardian Angel within whom I live remembering all always this holy guardian angel is a representation of God the protecting guiding power of God as expressed in your particular life and growth and evolution and say this day you see this is one of the reasons to start your morning right off with this potent declaration this day I give over to the holy guardian angel full direction of my mind and at that point think of splendor hold the orange circle has to do with the intellect then picture yourself as absolutely immersed in a brilliant orange so that you are an old void of orange of a living liquid orange and picture this orange as entering into you to make you a full vibrating ovoid of orange as entering into you through the holy guardian angel's vase the pouring vase of water becoming orange as it pours into you because remember what we pointed out to you that the act that that side of the tree and that particular Sephirah has to do with water and is assigned to the element of water the actual intellect so you picture that vase as pouring in other words again in your consciousness try to develop the realization that it is through the pouring of the force and vitality and livingness of the holy guardian angel that your ability to think comes you see this is the whole idea of having the holy guardian angel pouring because you're what you are doing is pictorially declaring and affirming a universal truth and you're declaring and affirming it in such a way as to intensify your whole realization of it and tune yourself right in to the tree of life with all its powers which remember is the way that the inner school projects its knowingness and in that way it helps you to develop a clear a more clear knowingness more rapidly and in a more intensified manner by this inner acknowledgement so first you've declared this aspect you've given over your mind to the direction and control of the Holy Guardian Angel then you go over to the green circle in your consciousness you say this day I give over the direction and control of my entire emotional nature and its desires to the Holy Guardian Angel. This day I give over my my feelings and desires or my every feeling and every desire to the control and guidance of the holy guardian angel then picture those drops of yod the fire as pouring into you and becoming green when they enter into your aura and picture yourself as an old void of green emerald green because you see that as the color it is on the tree of life you next you go to yes the violet circle you see this is these are the different powers of the personality that you're working with and you say repeat again this day I give over the entire subconscious activity to the control and direction of the holy guardian angel Now we have to say something more here, because this is a tough spot, you know, that subconsciousness.

And so we want to bring a little extra force into it.

And we therefore say, I willingly receive whatever is necessary to transmute old and outborn patterns into patterns of divine guidance then you picture yourself as being permeated in violet as a no void and in this case do not picture any particular element being poured in from either hand of the holy guardian angel but picture it more as a just a pure becomingness the reason for this is that actually it is a part of the eternal consciousness you know the subconscious substance actually the water that the holy guardian angel has his foot in is the symbol in the tarot key for that part that we're working on and at this point it what you want to do is take three deep rhythmic breaths of air because this has to do with the element of air those of you who want to can permeate your auras and violet through your breath or you can first see yourselves as a vibrating living violet oval light and then take your deep rhythmic breaths three of them and then you say my My physical vehicle is directed in all ways by the Holy Guardian Angel this day.

And you do not use any color at this point I mean Malkuth as you know has four different colors and there are special techniques but it would not be a good idea to use them at this point or in this technique. Having affirmed that the powers of the personality, because these are the announcements of the powers of the personality, as you can see, are in charge of the Holy Guardian Angel, you then finish up by again very vividly picturing the holy guardian angel and see yourself as being bathed in blue because remember that path is blue and remember also that blue is also the color assigned to the high priestess so you see yourself as bathed in blue but not letting go of the image of the 14th tarot key remember hold that together and then say oh thou within whom I live and move and have my being Keep me reminded in my every thought, emotion, and activity that thou art in charge of my coming and going my waking and sleeping my being and my livingness I walk in thee with thee for thee hold that feeling and get up go about your business but here's the point as often as you can throughout the day and evening just even for a split second suddenly let your attention snap to the holy guardian angel as permeating you with its wings above you and as you do this every day incidentally you can do that exercise as many times in the day as you want to by the way you can do it before any particular activity I mean there's no limitation on it it's just that the vital time is that first waking moment to place all of yourself in that care and guidance and to do it with the powers of the tree and their colors we're not giving you any powers of sound and so on to work with it not at this time that would be too much but try through the day as often as you can driving your car at work going to eat whatever it is you're doing to suddenly snap your attention to that idea and you will find that just one split second will just remembering the interpermeation of this tarot key figure which is a living force will help you to keep releasing your various problems and tensions to that when you're worried you'll find just snapping your attention to that, saying, well, that's in charge, so what do I have to worry about? You see, you'll find that it is the most, it will become the most extraordinary aid for releasing hatred, resentment, irritation, fears, anxieties, and the more you use it, the more effective it will become, because you're using forces you're opening up yourself up to forces which have an extraordinary uh motion on the subconscious level because they've been used for untold numbers of centuries the same images and you thereby get yourself tuned in to the powers that are being worked by those who are in the esoteric part of the work it's your way to tune in to the hierarchy for that more rapid transmutation that giving up of the pressures that our over indulgent love for the personality brings us and it substitutes another kind of love which you'll find a lot more fun by the way and if you've got humor which we hope you have it'll become easier and easier for you to say well uh if the holy guardian angel can't do a better job than that why should I worry let it worry and it really it's a very nice feeling because there's a reference underneath underneath the chuckle and you'll find that develops more and more so that's the technique now we can go on to trying to give at least a very shortened explanation of the rest of the tree in terms of the grades of return which is just a specialized aspect you understand By the way, there is one more thing.

Don't ever forget that that whole tree of life has many facets and factors. And in the tarot fundamental course, when you receive your lessons at home, when you get to that point in the work, you remember you are all told to memorize the pattern on the trestle board.

Well the actuality is this pattern on the trestle board is tied up with that tree of life you know the zero really refers to the einsaf hour that is the three veils before manifestation and the number one starts actually with the number one of the tree so that that way you get a certain condensed spirit of each one of those sefiris now you will find that when you say your pattern on the trestle board which you should because that is a continuous uh suggestion going on to try to help you become the full manifestation of this tree when you say your pattern if you will remember to think of the powers of the tree of life you'll find that it will have more meaning to you and then remember too that in terms of giving your body over to the holy guardian angel you need to change your whole attitude and feeling about that body I deliberately picked up and brought with me this little booklet that I wrote by because there were so many requests for a little bit of an enlarged idea on the pattern on the trestle board and I thought to help you get the idea those of you who haven't got it can get it from our secretary I don't know if she has it on the desk tonight but you'll find that the whole spirit of each of those sefiris will have more meaning to you as a result of this particular series that we've had in this classwork and so will the pattern and remember always that what we are after is to bring those powers that are above the tree into full manifestation in the into the physical vehicle in and through the physical vehicle these paths of return are not escape from the physical vehicle actually as we attain to the the powers above the so-called path of return at all times what we do is bring those powers down and express them in and through malkus so that I thought that those of you who haven't got the booklet to help give you the feeling because this is the feeling you want to develop when you do this a little technique you want to bring that into the feeling and thought of of the body itself to feel that that expresses all those other ideas and to recognize that your physical body is also a part of the personality and really reflects the full personality when it is a fully developed body in this way uh if you go out into outer space maybe at least your offspring will one of these days if they don't send us off all of us off onto the astral a little prematurely for a while and sometimes I'm afraid they're going to do it but they do I we'll just have a lot of extra work to do I guess but if you do go off beyond the atmosphere into the skies into the heavens you'll find that the sky is black there's no such thing as day and night the sun is shining fiercely but if the sky is black and you see you will see would see the stars through blackness you know sparkling diamonds yet here on this earth we have light and dark. We haven't got that blackness. And at night there's just a suggestion of it, but it's never that complete. Now why is it? What gives us the experience of a blue sky? It's because the light of the Sun reflects from an infinite number of dust particles in what we call our atmosphere.

Sphere in other words what are dust particles they are physical uh aspects of life they're pretty much the same thing as the body it's a physical level of vibration and so it is because of the physical that you have a reflection of the glory of god so you can see the glory of god it is the light reflecting from so-called bodies that gives us the experience of all the beauty of the infinitesimal so you see the physical is something we must learn to respect and to love and to recognize for what it really means so in this little a booklet that I wrote I tried to give some feeling of it where I mentioned in terms of malchus the tenth divine emanation is called the kingdom it is the manifested universe it is the flower of the tree of life it is the fulment of the divine emanations it is the purpose of self-experience that is the physical aspect of life is that towards which the eternal is forever pressing. The divine will apparently creates and grows physical vehicles in order to experience itself in and through these forms. A physical vehicle cannot be outside of God, since God is all there is. When God thinks, I flower, then a flower is experienced by those aspects of consciousness which are sharing in this thought.

I hope that that part is clear to you. The flower itself is experiencing itself as I flower, and you and I are experiencing that flower because of God's consciousness having thought I flower you see we share in God's consciousness of the flower in our own special way and still it's a sharing of God's consciousness that's why we see and experience a flower this is a point or anything else when God thinks the form which comes into being can be nowhere else except within the consciousness of God my consciousness and your consciousness are God's consciousness we are the a creative spirit in its aspect of both the one and the many. Your flesh and my flesh are forms that the self takes or self-experience. Your body is a temple for the living God. Revere it. Do not become lost in identification with it. The kingdom of spirit is embodied in your flesh. Your body is a form that consciousness takes and you are eternal consciousness of everything you have ever been of what you are and what you will be the garments of god are yours to enjoy wherever form is this is truly the glory of god you walk on holy ground and you are the temple not built by hand this is truth about the self you see now every effort that we make to perfect our thinking processes our feeling processes the whole point is until it is expressing in and through a physical situation and condition with the body it isn't tested therefore it hasn't become thoroughly the thing that God is creating yet this is what you want to remember about the powers of that holy guardian angel in other words you want to be sure that you're forever remembering that it is when it expresses through your body and your environment that you're really fulfilling the highest purposes and the more conscious you become of it uh the more real it becomes not only for you but for those around you because then you emanate you too remember are a divine emanation we are studying you in this whole tree of life god's powers and god's being as you now we want to just briefly cover the upper three sephiris we don't have to go into too much detail because none of us are in danger of attaining that level of uh evolution in this incarnation you see the black circle is assigned to the powers which are called master of the temple Now the powers of Master of the Temple, we told you these really belong to the very highest Masters of Wisdom of the Third Order. Master of the Temple means more than Master of the physical body it means master of all physical uh form and incidentally master of all types of vehicles because remember we have more than one vehicle uh and the one who has attained to that level of expression to that level of god's self-knowingness actually can create whatever form is necessary for whoever that person is for instance if that person had to go to another solar system for some reason to visit big brother a little brother of the sun with its planets he could transport himself with his consciousness to such a place and through his power of immediately forming the thought in his consciousness the form he could immediately collect the elements that are needed for that environment in order to function with his consciousness in a vehicle that is required for that particular solar system or planet he could go right into shall we say the sun because the sun is a consciousness you know and there are forms that live in the sun fiery forms that have the kind of vehicles that are in harmony with that and express that type of atmosphere that it is this is what we don't seem to realize that everything has a form and that form expresses God's level of consciousness in terms of that evolutionary level in relation to the form. And this would even include, shall we say, all those emanations that are going on in pure space, because it's been discovered space is not empty. It's full of flowing, vibrating, types of energy which they give all sorts of names now and wherever you have any impact of energy there you have consciousness consciousness is nowhere absent and where you have consciousness that is god's thought in contemplative motion in the self-knowing and so the The type of consciousness that we are involved with on this level, which we call bina, is the ability to make or dissolve whatever form is necessary for whatever situation or condition, and to keep that form for as long as is necessary.

This includes all the subtle forms, as we mentioned, that could not be seen by physical eyes but are seen by the eyes that have the consciousness of that level or that vibration like astral forms mental forms and god knows what other kind of forms there are so these individuals who have achieved that level of evolution they are the ones god works through for the development of form itself, because they are completely and directly in tune with God's self-image of the types of form that are involved in the various aspects of God's own self-expression, you see. And attainment of that level brings that sharing with God and therefore becoming a channel for the creation of these various forms and so again one who has attained this level of awareness has the power for instance to bring instantaneous healing to those whose karma it is to be so healed now remember this doesn't mean that those people who are channels for healing and therefore channels for instantaneous healing rather often have attained that stage because all the powers that are above are expressed in the lowest below at times that's the thing you want to remember the flow of forces and of beings and consciousness goes from the highest or the, shall we say, inmost to the outmost.

So never think that because somebody, say, has the power to bring healing that that person has achieved that state.

However, a person who has achieved that state besides other powers has that power also. But that person will never even attempt to use the power for healing except he sees that it is in the divine intention for the karmic unfoldment of that particular individual. You see, because he directly knows God's intention in relation to form. Those who aren't completely in tune with that will, of course, attempt to give healing to whoever asks, and this is right. Those who have the gift should. But there's always just a certain percentage of healings, you know. Amy Semple McPherson had a tremendous gift for the healing. In other words, she was a tremendous channel to help bring physical healing to lost people and there are many others they come from all walks of life and from all religious types of thought from the most primitive to the most complex all of us indeed have this gift excuse me at times because we all have all the powers that exist in the entire tree a little covered up a little wobbly but they're there a baby can't read yet but he has the power to see and he sees those letters and yet some children can read quite well and they're very young well now that I won't go through the paths that are involved except except to merely point out that inasmuch as all the paths have a two-way flow, you must remember that everyone who has attained an expression for the higher sefiris, even if it's partial, is forever pouring downward in terms of expressing these energies and therefore helping and permeating all the lower levels with these energies and powers, which is a stimulus and an inspiration very often when we receive sudden inspirations it's because we suddenly got tuned into these channels of the higher and sometimes we can tune into the very highest that exists for a split second or so or a moment and the more we meditate and attempt to live these higher principles the more often will we at least be occasional channels for very potent and marvelous insights and perceptions and expressions. Now the gray circle is called magus, which really means magician. And those who have attained to that level of evolution have a type of power that we can't even begin to express because this kind of individual and incidentally they function in a body you might meet anyone who has become a master of the temple or a magus there aren't too many but you might pass them in the street and never know because they take whatever form they need to function and they remain right here with us because it's necessary for the evolution of the whole and they're part of us they're not separate but you see those who have attained to that gray the gray circle, the magus, they are what you might call really magicians in the most complete sense, because they have the power instantaneously to create and change just about anything, and yet they don't, because they are in a continuous and a complete awareness of the whole cosmic process I mean there's never a moment that the whole cosmic process is absent from their awareness we mean the whole cosmic process not just the process of this particular solar system and they have the ability to tune in to the cosmic universal one the logos right on down to the solar logos to the planetary logos that is the planetary spirit and right on down that will in order to become aware of the highest kind of direction or divine divine will in its every detailed phase. That's why the word wisdom, I mean there's nothing in a sense that they don't really know when they need to know it. In other words, they have access to the consciousness of any and all levels. And it has to do with an ability to directly perceive the energies that have to do with the entire cosmos that is interplanetary and interstar much more so than the previous one that we mentioned because they would have an ability to build a vehicle but for these various parts but they have not yet developed that complete complete ability to tune into any and all phases anywhere in the cosmos.

It is through those who've achieved the evolution of Magus, incidentally, that you might say the evolution or the contact between the consciousness of different stars is kept in balance. Because remember the whole universe is one one being and these are able to expand themselves right on out to that but they do it only at stated periods the rest of the time they function right here on earth in order to help bring about the vibrational changes that are necessary on all the levels of evolution in other words the fiery energy you see the thing that's attributed to that particular Sephirah is the um it is called actually the sphere of the zodiac whereas that black circle master of the temple this is the sphere of saturn that is the finitizing principle and the sphere of the zodiac and they really uh can be called you might say the heavenly ones their consciousness so completely pervades all space when required and centers of consciousness in different parts of space and yet they are human beings like you and I this is the thing you want to remember and if you met one unless you knew how to look into their eyes you wouldn't know the difference because they although you're not likely to meet one there aren't too many of them and they're very very busy and they always work through channels but there are things that they have to do and accomplish and as human beings they have certain just as many human needs which they have no problem fulfilling but they are the type who suffer in patience and they'll suffer too as long as suffering exists anywhere it isn't absent from a particular group you know but remember what we told you there's another kind of suffering that isn't the same as personal suffering and so they suffer how can they help it when we weep with sort of lost wandering in wildernesses when the spirit of earth weeps how can they help it they're at one with the spirit of earth within which we live and all that growing and travail going on how can they they can't be absent from that but they're also in this ecstasy of creativity and they know the end from the beginning you see they have the same kind of sureness about the outcome of a large and total evolution because of their direct tuning they have that same uh relaxed knowingness that you would have about the fact that when you turn on when you play a certain record by a certain name that's the one you're going to hear you see that's quite a knowingness they don't have any perturbations about the outcome they know nevertheless they suffer with us as well as rejoice with us and they work with us and they walk with us in ways that would startle us if we knew now then the white circle here we come to that and remember all of those uh uh powers though I mean they express in different ways on different levels and remember there are times when we are expressing quite a bit of that power ourselves when our heart is lifted with the unity of life when we look out at stars we're participating with them to a degree and sometimes to more than a degree remember this don't think of it as something so far away from you it isn't that far away none of it is but with the white circle then this is called ipsissimus the great of ipsissimus what does ipsissimus mean it means he who is most himself and I'll go into that further after I've made announcements and given you a five minute it's rest period so the announcements now the title of my next sunday morning's talk is what true psychic power can do for you ipsissimus I'm almost as proud of the way I can pronounce that as I am about prestidigitation you know I'd love to show that off the tree of life diagram you received gives you that spelling it's right it's right up there you were all given the diagram that gives the terms of the grades and you'll find that that's the one that's up on that white circle the crown and it's other name is Akita actually you feed it if you have a good haha that's the way to pronounce it and you Hedda means the indivisible one now then here we are dealing with the Self. I mean capital S all over the lot. Remember what we said about the awareness of the ego seated in the hearts of men, that Christ consciousness in the yellow sephirah, Tiphareth, that that is a direct reflection from the cosmic self we are what you might call aspects of that ipsissimus yichida we are raised really directly from that universal consciousness we are participants in the universal self experience and our whole sense of I is really that the awareness of the personal element involved all the individuality comes from the reflection in other words when it looks into itself and starts thinking of what it is and its own self-experience the process of itself thinking automatically brings the individuality awareness so that it is basically all of us and everything else it isn't something we are not anything separate from that but we are all in different levels of self-awareness of what we are and as human beings don't ever forget we are the highest form of self-conscious awareness that the universal self has at least in this solar system or perhaps we should say on this planet I don't know I believe it's the solar system because we represent the Solar Consciousness in its individualized aspects.

Tiphareth, the Christ Self, the awareness of ego, that power in us which can be aware.

Now, here is the thing you want to remember about that tree. All of the paths are reciprocal paths in this way. Energy flows back and forth from all the sefiroth and through all the paths except from that one yachida the path of alas and the path of base on top you see those two paths those are not a two-way stream and energy wise in other words you do not achieve the consciousness of yachida by going up the path of base through that Sephirah which there is shown as understanding or if you achieve the consciousness of master of the temple for instance you cannot achieve the consciousness of abscissimus through going up the path of bait because you can't go up the path of bait it pours downward and outward from the consciousness of the universal self but there's no returning to that consciousness through that path or the one on the opposite through the path the wallet each of those two paws are a one-way stream because the triune the supernal triad as we pointed out to you before is really one thing because the first kind of consciousness that yifida has in terms of our own understanding is when it looks into its own nature and sees itself as both the masculine and feminine cosmic being and those two aspects represent it so that the only path through which we achieve the grade of obsesimus is through the path of gimel that rises up from Tiphareth that will give you an idea of why we're so wonderful it's from that central ego consciousness which you've heard us say is also the christ consciousness which is generic humanity which is adam which is awareness of beauty which is the image making faculty it is through that path of gimel you see the high priestess and it's blue that is the path and the only path that brings to that level of consciousness or awareness one and one alone and it's in the central path of consciousness remember what we said the central pillar is really the pillar of consciousness that is the ability to be aware resides there so that you would have in a sense you see you have four elements involved don't you four spheres on that middle pillar the white the yellow the violet and then that various peculiarly multi-colored one which we call malcus actually that bottom one is expression through the body consciousness but in essence you might call the white circle super consciousness the yellow circle self consciousness that's why it's colored yellow and the violet circle subconscious that's why you hear us say so often that ability to be aware is really your Christ consciousness but you have misplaced your identification actually you don't have to become your self consciousness you are it it's just that you think it's something other than it is so you've identified yourself with body you know so you think your body or you think your feelings or you think you are intellectual faculty whereas these are only powers and expressions and of that self whenever you're aware you're actually working from that yellow circle even though you don't know that that's where it's from yet you don't self-consciously know where your self-consciousness is at this point it sounds peculiar but I mean we we don't know quite how to express it we try all sorts of ways and that's one of the reasons we've been giving you that we gave you that technique to help you become more aware of that to get your identification identification switched The more often you can really switch it in your actual feeling about yourself the More readily will you achieve all the other powers that are involved in the difference of Ferris which you must sooner or later And you can't get away from it. You can't escape it. You're going to have to master All these different parts of your own powers because they're yours of the whole tree now it's systemus he who is most himself no matter how undeveloped uh you may be you still express ipsissimus in other words you still express that in qabalah it is said kether that's the white circle is in malchus that's the bottom one as malchus is in kether but after another manner so you see everything that you are even in body is right here with you when you think of closer than hands of feet closer than your breath that is it the white circle so you may have to attain its awareness and powers in special ways still its powers are all the powers that you've got right here and now it isn't there you may have to go through the disciplines of climbing and you will the tainting controls and links and balancing nevertheless that is the deciding factor that is called the primal will it is that part of yourself which decided exactly how and in what way you're going to do it as part of itself from the very beginning and in its consciousness which is really your innermost consciousness the end and the beginning are a simultaneous now so that that part of the selfhood does not go through the problems in consciousness that for instance the uh limited part of self-experience does one analogy I came across recently that I like so well it gives some hint of it and yet it doesn't it's like having another faculty opened up inside which is there and yet we hardly know we have it because it's never been exercised been mentioned that if a blind person and a person who can see we're standing at a station where they're the uh vista is wide waiting for a train so that you can see way way out through the tracks the one who can see will see that train before it can be heard and so he will say to the person who's blind the train is coming to the blind person this is a miraculous perception because he can't see it about five minutes later he'll hear it then he'll know the train is coming So you see there's a faculty that has a larger vista of consciousness, a larger area of seeing.

And that consciousness sees the end from the beginning and experiences it in an all-at-onceness.

And that's the highest faculty of our consciousness that there is. And any one of us can have a sudden flash of it in a dream. That's what for instance true prophecy usually involves and we don't have to be so highly evolved either the most complete primitive will suddenly see and have this from larger areas of itself but even though it hasn't unfolded as a regular uh part of the power of the consciousness because the paths will suddenly pour and we could suddenly be open to anything but as we practice and go through the disciplines you see we bring the opening and we start developing the powers and it makes it something controlled and conscious instead of have had it and occasional and some of us may think we've never really been aware of our true selfhood in many ways and as we pointed out I believe it was to our sunday morning one of our sunday morning talks very recently every time your heart lifts with a sense of beauty you have been consciously expressing the different part of your being because your awareness of beauty is that part of your consciousness your christ self so it isn't something that you're going to someday get you're going to know who and what it is and that it's yours directly so you have it and you don't know it you experience it and you don't realize it and that's been our problem in so many ways And that's one of the reasons we go off all haywire and do so many incorrect things unwise things we have self images of ourselves and we are lost in these self images and one of our biggest Problems incidentally is being lost in self images of self exaltation, you know Which so many of us can get I know of a case and this is really almost horrible But I know of the case of a man who had a tremendous need to think of himself as as terrifically masculine with tremendous masculine powers because he had problems in that direction and at the same time he had a need to think of himself as having achieved a real sharing spirit so he took his sickness of soul and a true sickness of soul it was a complete feeling of inferiority and in relation to his masculine powers of expression and he maneuvered himself into a situation where he got a one great deal older woman to fall in love with him and assured her that they would have a relationship that was eternal only she was not destined to be his mate and yet this particular individual confided to me that a fortune teller whom he had complete faith in had told him that he was going to meet a five foot two eyes of blue youngster and they were going to be spiritual soul mates and they would marry and live happily ever after but that of course he realized he had to be made a man first so he prayed to god to bring him an older woman who was lonely so she could make a man of him this on a self-conscious level he thought of himself as being a tremendous spiritual aspirant really and so he uh met an older woman and naturally she She became his, shall we say, mentor.

Anyway, she proceeded to make the man of him, as he was quite determined this had to occur.

And he was also quite determined that he was very spiritual and very aspiring and very honest. He had integrity and he had honesty and truthfulness, don't you see, responsibility. This was his self-image. So he hammered at this poor woman that uh she was the sort of women men wanted but didn't marry and so of course he wouldn't marry her he was going to marry five for two eyes of blue and god brought her but meanwhile they would have a lasting relationship and he was forever pounding her to promise that she would never let him go never give him up no matter what I mean he was this determined so curiously enough he met a five for two eyes of blue finally took him almost two years I think and I thought there were more that covered that description around but and the expected thing happened and so then he proceeded to this uh lover of his and told her well it's happened he said but I am so grateful to you you have done so much for me uh we must not break up and in his consciousness you see he was being the great noble masculine spiritual person who was going to share himself all over the lot spiritually you see the self exaltation and who was honest and sincere about it and this poor woman went through hell naturally a lot lot more involved but I'm just trying to show you how when we do not have a clear picture of our own inner illnesses and drives and needs now even though we may be spiritual aspirants we can take these warped parts of our being and dress them up in our own consciousness to make them something spiritual and he's just doing I called him a psychic con man seems to me that that's about the best description he's diabolically clever if you maneuver himself into this exalted position for a reaffirmation to himself of his masculinity and make it a spiritual thing in his mind in his consciousness I feel sorry for what's going to happen to these people involved I mean I I can see what it must inevitably lead to in the face of these toward deluded human beings who don't know how to really revere and protect true beauty and true relationships and how to be discriminating about it he will probably marry his wife the two eyes of blue and not realize that he says forsaking all others except creating the only to her he probably will not realize that he's going to be taking a note that he has no intention of keeping which isn't very spiritual who is it if he really manages to keep the other girl under the glamour of of his false image now you see she has accepted his false image this is her problem and we do this all the time don't we we accept other people's false images well we must learn to the degree that we become aware of our own self images remember the image making power resides in Tiphareth. And to the degree that we become aware of our own self images and see how close to reality these images come, to that degree will we be able to bring about transmutations of a lot of the nonsense that resides in our hearts, seeing ourselves in pictures that aren't correct evaluations of the personality expression that's another reason for this technique that we gave you to help you in just that because as you keep practicing that technique you will discover that you are developing an ability to look down and watch the personality from that above in other words from the true center your true different conscious center and so you'll be able to catch yourselves in all sorts of self-delusions in your thinking feeling and therefore acting that you weren't you didn't catch before and whenever you do the one thing you want to be sure of is not to start heaping coals of ashes on your head chuckle this is important laughter chuckle and say well what do you know? Isn't this fabulous? What an amazing creator I am that I could have created this delusion. I mean, pat yourself on the back even for having been foolish because it was still a creative act. And then you'll find it's easier to cope with all these problems within yourselves when you can chuckle at them and congratulate yourself for becoming aware of them or discovering them. Remember always that no matter what you've been, no matter how foolish you may act tomorrow, this is one of the least important things that can occur, that is, you're being foolish, as long as you have gotten to the point where you can quickly discover what you're being or doing or thinking or feeling which is not in terms of reality so youkida you see he who is most himself is necessarily he who knows himself the most right and he who knows himself the most can enter into the spirit of the drama you have to play your part at certain times but you do it knowing that you're performing a part always reaffirming what you really are you get to enjoy the acts that you necessarily have to put on from time to time knowing that they are acts and so he who is most himself because he consciously walks on the stage of life and performs walks off then and remembers he's not that actor he's not that part he's not really hamlet or octavius or whoever he is the self when you can do that you will find that your power to be and your power to influence becomes ever more potent he who is most of himself has an amazing impact on other people's consciousness and it's there in level go to a party I don't mean the kind of parties where people uh vie with each other to see who can drink the most cocktails and still remain in an upright position because these aren't parties you know these individuals are sick escapists and this doesn't mean that we are saying anyone who takes a drink is bad the minute we have to be a good or evil sort of thing in our judgment we're making a terrible mistake if wine was good enough for jesus a cocktail or a glass of wine certainly hurts no one but when you have to take two or three or knock yourself solid and out you know being an alcoholic is a serious illness it certainly is being a glutton in anything is a serious illness so we are not referring to being in a group where you have a bunch of ill people uh together going off on their binges in order to escape thinking and feeling and true living because these people don't live as you surely realize they're escaping into muddledness you know vagueness sickness and it's tragic some of the most sensitive beautiful souls incidentally will do that and they just can't take it and haven't found the center of stability and strength yet and often that will be a thing that will make them less and less beautiful and sensitive though if they stay with it it's a serious and a tragic things but we mean meeting together with groups who are fairly stable types of people you will find that he who is most himself in that particular group is the one who gets the most attention for what he thinks or feels people will turn to him automatically he doesn't have to do anything he doesn't have to try he emanates a power he emanates an influence and it's observable and often he will influence even when he doesn't open his mouth quietly and subconsciously not because he's trying to but because of the power of his self-knowingness because he's more himself he is less his act he is less his self-image you know we have images of things like uh well I am I am kind, but I have a temper once in a while, and I'm pretty lousy in mechanics, but I'm very good at understanding people.

And I hate coffee, but I love tea. And I mean, you know, all those things, these are qualities. We take a whole bunch of these groups of qualities, and we think we're those qualities. This is the point we're trying to make.

We get lost in qualities which are not our true self at all. And whenever we think of ourselves as these qualities, we get fastened in these patterns.

Whereas he who is most himself discovers he has every quality that everybody else has under the proper conditions that bring them out.

But there's no difference.

And because of that he incidentally gains control of the qualities and this is what we mean by you start acting on the stage of life a bit more consciously now like one example that we could bring out uh with my daughter I don't know why maybe I was just a little too good-natured but uh I would ask her to do something after I just get no results yeah later or when I get through with this when I get through with that and uh nothing would happen so suddenly I would decide well it's time to get mad well I wasn't mad but oh I gave a beautiful act I would just blow up my voice sounded like uh I'd hate to tell you it's pretty low rocket I'm afraid as it is and when I raised it to the loudest pitch I think it was very frightening suddenly I mean we'd I'd get some attention and she would listen to me and then we would have the thing done or or undone whatever the situation required but you see I really wasn't angry I just had to play the role of anger in order to get a little uh cooperation and I don't know how what I did with her and the way I raised her that it required that I'm sure I made all sorts of mistakes which we do and we look back and we do have to chuckle when I had her this child of mine at that time it was very popular to have special ideas about you've got to put them on and keep them on a rigid schedule you see and I'd never been around the baby so I got all the booklets from the government you see and I pasted schedules all over the house and all the wall and I had 10 nervous breakdowns and how I survived it god only knows because there was the schedule I had such and such a time she had to have the bath god himself couldn't have stopped that bath that was the time you see schedule I was going to raise a baby right you know such and such a time she had to eat and such and such a time uh she had to have her period in the sun such and such a time she got her called liver oil I mean you never saw such a uh a scheduled baby and if they cried you didn't pick them up that was what they thought in those days and of course I was one of those ala ala worshiping science and this is what science said who would dream of going against God's science you see I thought I was being a wonderful mother and I probably almost wrecked that child psychologically although she it's a peculiar thing human beings are much more hardy than we realize the things they survive my daughter surprised me with all my fears I wouldn't if anybody touched her little baby hand uh I almost collapsed I could see germs everywhere you know it's terrible and she's got problems of certain kinds and occasionally she'll look at me reproachfully and said it's on account of you I have this in a psychological problem I said it is not on account of me I thought as I did because of my mother and father and they are their mother and father you go back to your floor bars and leave me alone so I figured that's the best way to solve that one but you see when we become all tied up with patterns and ideas of this must be so So that must be so.

We really become rigid, and we do make terrible mistakes.

But we've got to have enough elasticity to be willing to see them, change them, and recognize that, after all, we were in such terrible three-letter things because, after all, we are the product of our environment. And we, too, are growing and evolving. We're trying.

And that is the greatest magic of all. And no matter what we've done, no matter what the boners we've pulled, no matter how it seems we've been responsible for being a very bad influence in certain areas, this has nothing to do with what we can accomplish. We can accomplish extraordinary things. We can attain to sublime heights no matter what we've been, no matter what we've done. Remember, all we have to be is continuously aspiring children of god humble enough to recognize that we make all sorts of mistakes and we're going to and our very self-recognition of this almost announces what we really are reaching without recognizing it so we've shown you at least very partially some of the principles involved in a path of return as you know there are elements of ritual and ceremonial and types of work involved that we have not been able to speak about because that can be given only to those who are initiated and it's a long and arduous job and it does not bring you your liberation immediately we promise you no instantaneous evolution that's going to bring you liberation because we know it can't happen that way and we know that if you follow the way that has been put in our care we didn't manufacture it we didn't dream it up we are merely uh sometimes I think privileged and sometimes I think uh perhaps rather the privileged we must have done some pretty raw things and this is our punishment we are merely the channel to bring to you that which is and belong to something beyond all of us and I know that together we can achieve things we could never dream of separately so let's work at it it's available to every one of you if you work keep with it though some of you already know what magic can be performed now we'll have some questions Yes?

I was wondering why there's no path, the open, from 3 to 4, with no spiritual between them. Because we don't have the obvious. Of the what? Because of the obvious, we have to keep going back to... From 3 to where did you say? From 4 to 3.

Oh, that's because that is the abyss.

The supernal triad on top that remember that all is in terms of cosmic consciousness and that vast abyss everything below that are really powers of our personality but that abyss is there as an indication you really have to make a jump in consciousness you become an other order of being even though you're still human and uh there are many mysteries involved there in this abyss so to speak that we all have to cross sooner or later and it has to do with knowledge there's an invisible Sephirah that by qabalah to be in that area where nothing resides where you seem not to see a symmetry and there are invisible paths that are involved and these have to do with a further development in our evolution and we are would be able to attain at this point what we're after at this stage is to attain the fullest function of that beauty different elements which would be really from our point of view of now a real liberation of all the problems of personality when we achieve the full function now remember Remember what we said, being initiated into this grade doesn't bring it.

Once one is initiated into it, it takes several lifetimes, but it assures it.

And most human beings are very, very far from that. Most human beings don't even begin to approach it. Yet those who come to our kinds of type of work, we know that the percentage is extraordinarily larger. That is why they've come, they've been guided.

You're here because you're being given an opportunity to go farther than you could have otherwise you've reached that ability how far we can't tell you but farther than you would have that's the point any other questions yes the coloring of the tarot keys dear uh these this is given in the lessons that our members receive at home the full instructions are there and also the the highlights of tarot uh has them yeah when you get to tarot fundamentals you do but I'll tell you whenever Whenever people take our class, what I always recommend is this, that you really make up your mind to color more than one set. You will anyway if you really are an aspirant. I used to color at least a set a year. And you'd be amazed. It helps to stimulate something. Then one has one set for carrying around in the purse. You see, there are different sizes. And when you've colored three sets, each in a different size, you find it so much handier.

You have one set you can carry around in your purse the little ones and a wallet thing then a larger one for your meditations and a larger uh one yet for special meditation especially when you want to put them around the house which I always like to do whatever I was studying I wanted I have always wanted extra sets to have around the house to remind me besides the ones that I would use for special meditations so whenever people take classwork in order to have the advantage of having the colored keys a little sooner I always advise them to do a quick coloring from the highlights of tarot but making up their mind they'll color another key at the proper place in the works you'll find you'll do a better job the second time anyway and you see you can get that sheet the sheet the tarot tableau from it's very inexpensive and it's well worthwhile having or you can get a larger set and that gives you the colored keys more readily when you've had that extra work in the class which makes you able to go a little faster you know any other questions well then darling yes all right now instead of an image of yourself image yourself as being uh the uh holy guardian guardian angel, except that he's bigger, and just as though you were seeing an image or a reflection in water, see a little mild reflection of yourself inside of the holy guardian angel.
